Haunted houses and Halloween nights in Atlanta, and where to eat after

Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, the same day Georgia plays Florida in Atlanta. Netherworld's 30th season in Stone Mountain, indoor haunts in Newnan and Acworth, a lakeside trail in Buford, family trick-or-treat days, 18+ and 21+ nights, and what has not confirmed a season. A guest guide from Mr. Fear, ending at three city kitchens open until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

October around Atlanta. The big haunts are out in the suburbs and the woods, so plan the drive before the costume.

Halloween 2026 is a Saturday, and Georgia plays Florida in Atlanta that afternoon, a 3:30 p.m. kickoff the University of Georgia lists as sold out. None of the big haunts are downtown. Netherworld is east in Stone Mountain, 13 Stories is southwest in Newnan, Fright Fest is west in Austell, Folklore is north in Acworth, Four Scythes is in Cumming and Trail of Terror is at Lake Lanier in Buford. This is the scary half of a night out. The eating half is at the end, back inside the city.

3:30 p.m.Kickoff for Georgia vs Florida in Atlanta on Saturday, October 31. Leave extra time if your route to a haunt crosses the city.
30thThe season Netherworld says it is running in 2026, with every ticket sold for a half-hour entry window.
21The minimum age of the chaperone Six Flags Over Georgia requires for anyone 17 or younger, at all operating hours.

I write the haunt guides on Mr. Fear, a Halloween site, and I am a guest here. Top of Atlanta asked for the haunted houses. They supplied the tables.

The night, in order

Pick one side of the metro, not two. The haunts are far apart. Buy before you go: Netherworld sells every ticket for a set date and half-hour window, Folklore says it will sell out and asks guests to buy online, and Four Scythes sends walk-ups to its website. Netherworld, 13 Stories, Folklore, Four Scythes and Trail of Terror all say there are no refunds, so choose the night first. Check the costume rule before you dress. Fright Fest bans costumes, costume masks and face coverings, and Netherworld and Folklore allow costumes only on small children. The kitchens at the end of this page close at 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, so take an early entry slot if dinner comes after. Clocks go back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1.

The haunted houses

  • Netherworld Haunted House, Stone Mountain: two houses for its 30th season, Curse of the Collector and Beyond Oblivion: Legacy of Evil. Select nights from September 18, every night from October 14 through November 1, then November 6 and 7. Minimum age 7, and children may not be carried through. Construction has cut parking, so the operator asks guests to carpool or use rideshare.
  • 13 Stories Haunted House, Newnan: an all-indoor complex with Clown Haus and the Project Wasteland laser experience, on select nights from September 18 to November 7. There is no minimum age, and the operator rates the scare level as extreme.
  • Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia, Austell: haunted mazes including the new Infestation and Finklestein’s House of Fun on select nights from September 12 to November 1. The mazes are a separate purchase from park admission. The park does not recommend it for children under 13, and re-entry stops at 7 p.m.
  • Folklore Haunted House, Acworth: two indoor houses on one ticket, the Winters Estate and the Maze of Madness phobia maze. Friday and Saturday nights in October run 7:30 p.m. to midnight. Not recommended for children 12 and under, and groups are capped at 6.
  • Trail of Terror, Buford: an outdoor haunted trail at a new home, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, with a full bar and live music. Most nights open at 8 p.m. Closed-toe shoes are required, and anyone under 16 needs a parent or legal guardian.
  • Four Scythes Haunted Attraction, Cumming: a nonprofit haunt built by volunteers at the Cumming Fairgrounds, October 8 to 18, 23, 24, 30 and 31. During the fair, October 8 to 18, the City of Cumming charges its own gate admission on top. Not recommended under 12.

With kids

The daytime events are the plan for small children. Boo at the Zoo at Zoo Atlanta runs October 17, 18, 24 and 25, and for the first time on Halloween itself, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Trick-or-Treat Lane included with admission. Haunted Seas at Georgia Aquarium is an indoor trick-or-treat trail from October 3 to November 1. Six Flags runs Tricks and Treats, its no-fear daytime version, from 12 to 5 p.m. on select days. The Center for Puppetry Arts holds Monster Mash on October 17 and 24. After dark, the Pumpkin Festival at Stone Mountain Park has glow trails and a pumpkin drone show, Fridays to Sundays through November 1. Capturing the Spirit of Oakland is a 75-minute night walk through Historic Oakland Cemetery on October 15 to 18 and 22 to 25. The cemetery says it is designed to enlighten rather than frighten.

Twenty-one and over

Georgia Aquarium opens for adults on two Fridays, October 16 and 30, for Haunted Seas After Hours. You must be 18 to attend and 21 to drink. The Southern Museum in Kennesaw holds Haunted Spirits on Friday, October 23, from 6 to 10 p.m., for guests 21 and over, with a costume contest and ghost tours of the museum. The Atlanta Horror Film Festival marks its 20th year at 7 Stages Theatre in Little Five Points from October 1 to 4; it does not state an age policy.

What is not open this year

Nothing on my Atlanta list has been confirmed closed, but three are unconfirmed. Paranoia Haunted House in Canton has announced a 16th season, but its hours and ticket pages had not posted 2026 dates when I checked. Scream Zone at Buford Corn Maze says it opens September 25, but its hours page still shows the farm closed. Chambers of Horror has not announced a 2026 season, and its website was unavailable when I checked.

The full list

Dates, ticket rules and ages for all of these, plus the Día de Muertos festival at Oakland Cemetery and the Little 5 Points Halloween parade, are on my beat, not a restaurant site’s. The full Atlanta haunted house and Halloween events guide on Mr. Fear has all 25 listings checked against each organizer’s own page, with the links to buy.

Where to eat after

A plate of braised short rib over grits with collard greens and crispy fried onions on a dark wood table in a candlelit brick dining room
The haunts are in the suburbs; the kitchens that stay open late are back inside the city.

All three are inside the city of Atlanta, on Piedmont Avenue, DeKalb Avenue and Howell Mill Road, so they suit a night that ends back in town, after the Oakland Cemetery tour or on the drive home. These three are on the Top of Atlanta late-night food list. The scores are theirs, not mine.

7.6Poor Calvin’sOpen until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, from 5 p.m. The Korean BBQ Tacos and the Miso-Glazed Black Cod are the plates named first, and the list names it for date night and special occasions.
7.2Fox Bros. Bar-B-QOpen until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Smoked brisket, BBQ nachos and a pulled pork sandwich make it the casual table for a group coming out of a haunt hungry.
7.1The OptimistOpen until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, from 3 p.m. on Saturday. Whole grilled fish, wood-fired oysters and a seafood tower, for a special-occasion dinner after the scare.
